This is a modern replica of the Dataman Softy 2 Programmer. I have made a number of small improvements whilst keeping the layout and tracking as close to the original as possible. My replica is in a black case, I have seen both cream and black examples.
The original had an onboard 5V regulator requiring a nominal 9V DC and in addition it required 30V+ DC for the programming voltage. The unit is now 5V powered, the 5V regulator having been removed and a DC-DC converter fitted to generate the programming voltage. The power connector is now a power jack socket rather than a DIN socket.
I have retained the modulator but added a Video output via a Phone socket.
The keyboard uses small 6 x 6mm 4.3mm high tactile switches and a bespoke keyboard overlay avaliable from Ian Reynolds (Realtime on the UK Vintage Radio forum or '55theparade' on eBay).
